Apparently Kristin Cavallari has teamed up with Chinese Laundry and has a shoe line. They're actually pretty cute (and I don't mean to sound surprised by that), and I'm a big fan of the d'Orsay style heel, and she has several. The collection looks like it would work in anyone's closet: classic styles that fit in an office, given extra character by the pattern and color, as well as several dressier "going out" styles, an some booties. Mules are a reviving style, and she has several here as well. And they're totally affordable. Cute AND affordable? What more could you ask for? ('Cept maybe the cute outfits she is wearing with them in this video?)

Walk in her shoes
Were you a fan of either reality show "Laguna Beach" or "The Hills"? If so, you may have kept better tabs on what this gal has been up to than I have. I admit that I caught a few episodes of each (more of the latter than the former). Reality shows are my secret (from my husband) little guilty pleasure, because he thinks (and I think mostly rightly so) that there's no real redeeming social value to them. Which there isn't, but that's not why we watch them, is it? :)

The interest in the details...
Sometimes when picking what to wear, I battle mentally over wanting to just be comfy, and still wanting to look polished. I think this outfit looks put together, but is deceptively comfortable. The pants I love, they're super soft and lightweight. The shirt is jersey, and the jacket is lightweight and cotton. If anything in this ensemble foils my attempt at comfort, its the heels, but even for those, these ones are good. A little platform in the front makes a tall heel feel not so tall, and also allows for a little cushion in the front.

Dressed up for dinner...
I've never followed the "no whites after Labor Day" "rule". That's just silly to me. Granted, I find that 'winter white' feels a bit more seasonally appropriate during the colder months, but white white works year round. You just need to incorporate it in seasonally appropriate ways. Like in a jacket. A fun, structured jacket with extra detailing.

Office brights...
I'm on a mission to find office appropriate outfits that are not drab. I spend my days (just for the pay) in a law office, and while it could be worse, it's pretty drab. The decor is from I think the '70s, and aside from the sporadically-placed colorful but what-the-heck-is-that-supposed-to-be artwork, everything is dull around here. I'm trying be be a bright spot amongst it all. This outfit helps with that.

Modern Hawaii style...
I'm going to try to start posting more of my personal style pictures, to document my attempts at finding my adult style. (Finding a good photographer to help with that is on my to-do list. Or at least getting a better camera for my husband to use. For now, these will have to do.)
First attempt here, some images from an outfit I wore for our first nice dinner out while visiting Kauai. We went to The Beach House Restaurant, which is right on the water's edge facing the west, so it has a gorgeous and unobstructed view of the sunset every night. It's one of the "fancier" restaurants on Kauai, which is still extremely casual by LA standards. The food was delish, I had a watermelon feta salad and the seafood bisque. Very full by the end of dinner, and all diners were happy. We've dined there every time we've visited Kauai.

Currently Craving...
Sorry for the lack of posts the last couple days. It's my goal to post daily on weekdays, but the hubby hurt his back the other night and my week got a little out of routine with having to take him to doctors and care for him at home. He's doing much better now, though will be uncomfortable for probably a few more days at least. But I'm back at the computer, so here's one last post for the week.
The weather in SoCal teased us last week with cool --dare I say fall?--weather. We even had some rain. Everyone were pulling out their sweaters and boots. Then it was 90 degrees again this week. [Sigh.]
